The Chicago Big Band for CONCERTS, & Events

Welcome! Shout Section Big Band is a Chicago-based jazz orchestra bringing exciting big band swing to weddings, corporate events, swing dances and concerts. Since forming in 2007, this band has entertained audiences at concert series, jazz festivals, corporate celebrations, weddings and dances throughout Chicago and the Midwest.

The band regularly showcases the talented Tatum Langley, a featured performer with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. Have your heard about that jazz band onstage at Lollapalooza? That’s right—that was us! We’ve been featured on Chicago television, worldwide radio and the nationally syndicated Warner Bros. television show “The Vampire Diaries.” Amazon.com recently hired us to perform 1940's swing for the opening of the Amazon Prime series “A League of Their Own.” With a sound that rivals big-name orchestras and a lineup consisting of the Chicago area’s best musicians, Shout Section is a band you’ll love listening to—and dancing to. If you’re looking for live jazz and big band music in Chicago, you’ve come to the right place!

Shout Section holds residencies at two of the Chicago area’s most storied music venues: Andy’s Jazz Club and Fitzgerald’s Nightclub. We also perform regularly for the Lindy Hop and swing dance community at the Roxy Theater in the Chicago suburbs and The Venue in Aurora. We bring top-class performances at accessible rates to weddings, private and corporate events, city concert series, dance communities and music venues. A new release from the Shout Section Big Band, formed in Chicago in 2007. Featuring vocalist Tatum Langley, whose singing is reminiscent of Diane Schuur, Ella Fitzgerald, and Anita O’Day. The jacket design is taken from Frank Sinatra’s classic album Sinatra’s Swingin’ Session!!!. True to the band’s name, Langley’s powerful voice stands out against an energetic sound. Highlights include a jazzy Carpenters number (track 7), a track where she mimics Ella’s scat singing (track 10), and a track that recreates Buddy Bregman’s famous arrangement (track 14), among others. Highly recommended for big band and vocal fans!!!
